TAHNIAH PROFESOR MADYA TS. DR. FATIMAH DE'NAN TAJAAN ASTINO AGRO-HOUSE MULTI SYSTEM SDN. BHD.

eposter TAHNIAH PROF MADYA TS DR FATIMAH DENAN PENAJA ASTINO AGRO HOUSE MULTI SYSTEM SDN BHDThis research collaboration between Astino Agro-House Multi System Sdn Bhd and Universiti Sains Malaysia aims to develop a Comprehensive Testing Work for the Determination of Section Capacity of RHS and SHS Section of Astino. This proposal outlines a comprehensive testing program to determine the section capacity of Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS) and Square Hollow Sections (SHS) produced by Astino. The tests aim to validate the structural performance of these cold-formed steel sections by evaluating their bending, compression, tensile, and connection capacities.

The testing work comprises four key areas: Material Testing, Section Capacity Testing, Connection Capacity Testing, and Full-Scale Load Testing. The Material Test involves tensile testing to determine the yield and ultimate strengths of the raw material, ensuring consistency with supplier mill certificates. The Section Capacity Tests will assess the bending, compression, and tensile capacities of the sections under controlled conditions. Bending tests will consider different orientations of the welded joints, while compression tests will evaluate the influence of slenderness ratios and end conditions. The Connection Capacity Tests will examine welded, bolted, and screwed connections. Shear and pull tests will determine the bearing and tearing resistance of screwed connections. Additionally, a Fastener Dynamic Test will simulate cyclic loading to assess long-term connection performance. Finally, a Full-Scale Load Test will be conducted to verify the design predictions of truss behavior under real-world loading conditions.

All tests will be performed using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM) with a maximum capacity of 250 kN, adhering to European Recommendations for loading rates and strain limits. The results will serve as critical input data for validating design calculations and ensuring compliance with structural engineering standards. This study will contribute to improving the reliability and efficiency of cold-formed steel sections, supporting Astino’s commitment to high-quality structural products.
