The European Research Council (ERC) supports frontier research across all fields and also awards grants to scientists and scholars from all over the world.Since 2007, it has funded more than 12.000 projects and over 10.000 scientists and scholars from all over the world. 12 Nobel Prizes, 6 Fields Medals, 11 Wolf Prizes and dozens of important scientific prizes have been awarded to ERC grantees. Join us for a unique opportunity to meet with the President of the ERC,Prof Maria Leptin, in an informal setting to learn how the ERC supports researchers from anywhere in the world. Prof Leptin will also share details about the opportunities for high-calibre researchers supported by the National Research Foundation Singapore (NRF) to make research visits to Europe, where they will have the opportunity to work in ERC-funded teams. The seminar will be opened by H.E. Iwona Piórko, European Union Ambassador to Singapore and Prof Barry Halliwell, Chairman of the BMRC Advisory Council (BMAC), A*STAR.This event is brought to you by EURAXESS ASEAN and the A*STAR Postdoc and Early Career Scientist Society (A*PECSS).

 

Types of ERC Grants

Starting Grants are open to researchers of any nationality with 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal.

Consolidator Grants are open to researchers of any nationality with 7-12 years of experience since completion of PhD, a scientific track record showing great promise and an excellent research proposal.

Applicants for the ERC Advanced Grants - called Principal Investigators (PI) - are expected to be active researchers who have a track-record of significant research achievements in the last 10 years.

Synergy Grants are open to a group of two to maximum four Principal Investigators (PIs) working together and bringing different skills and resources to tackle ambitious research problems. One will be designated as the corresponding PI (cPI).
