CELEBRATING A DECADE OF COLLABORATION; TUT-USM FURTHER STRENGTHENS RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND NETWORKING

TUT USM I 2024

PENANG, 27 February 2024 - The Research Creativity and Management Office (RCMO) at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) together with Toyohashi University of Technology (TUT), Japan today joined forces to host the TUT-USM Penang 10th Anniversary Commemorative Programme.

This significant event took place at Eastin Hotel Penang, featuring a one-day symposium and reception aimed at strengthening the decade-long relationship between TUT and USM.

The symposium, themed "Research, Innovation, and Networking Towards the Next Decade," provided a platform for fruitful discussions. A Round Table discussion followed, focusing on the theme "Strengthening Networking towards the Next Decade."

Present at the Reception Dinner were the Consul-General of Japan in Penang, His Excellency Mr. Kawaguchi Yoshiyasu and USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed.

In his welcoming remarks, Abdul Rahman expressed gratitude for the collaboration, emphasising its positive impact on USM by opening up more research opportunities and enhancing the university's global reputation.

“Today, as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the TUT-USM Collaboration Centre, we express our deepest gratitude for the positive impact on USM, highlighting the success in the partnership, trust built, and respect which have existed between USM and TUT,” he said.

Following that, the programme was then continued with congratulatory remarks from His Excellency and the Representative of the Industry, Dato’ Ir. Dr. Goh Teik Cheong, who shared insights and reflections on this momentous occasion.

The event also featured a Plaque of Appreciation Awarding Ceremony, acknowledging the fruitful collaboration established between academia and various industry companies since 2014.

Also present were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Dr. Habibah A. Wahab; delegates of USM and TUT.
